The Engineering department is responsible for providing, maintaining and managing sealed and unsealed road networks, town water supply, sewer system, parks gardens and sporting ovals, traffic systems, street-scapes, recreational services, aerodrome, quarries as well as providing public services in the areas of road safety, flood management, emergency services and plans and mapping for the residents of Forbes Shire Council In addition the department maintains some 284 km of regional, state and federal road on behalf of the NSW.RTA. The engineering group was restructured in 2001 resulting in the formation of three divisions under responsibility of the director of engineering and technical services.
